Sculpture; thorns, metal, clamps, epoxy 2022

„A sculpture built from berry spines and rose thorns tacked together with tension and clamps and maintained alive with epoxy. There are no roots or peaks, each peak can grow back down and take root in the stone. They turn circles to become even stronger.I still feel dizzy. The tip of each thorn holds poison to stun bandits. I‘m poisoned. Thorns and spikes are more than just defense for us. They are living fences that draw boundaries.“
- Wintermantel, the Bandit

“LAST X-GAMES”: A HEDONISTIC, OPPULENT EXHIBITION IN THE MIDST OF AND AGAINST THE INSIGNIA OF OVERDUE LATE CAPITALISM.

An excerpt oof the exhibition text by ANNE ZÜHLKE (CURATOR DOCK 20 KUNSTRAUM UND SAMMLUNG HOLLENSTEIN)

An almost dystopian, but Dionysian scenery opens up to visitors upon entering the former factory halls in Bregenz. In strict dramaturgy, the show leads its visitors from one highlight to the next and intentionally overstimulates both senses and receptive capacities. Playing with proportions and scales, the show consistently follows the motto of the eponymous X-Games: Higher, faster, further! Since 1995, the annual mega-event has been providing event-hungry TV and live audiences with extreme sports, daredevil stunts, artificial snow and cool role models in both summer and winter, through whose veins rockstar energy seems to flow! The group exhibition approaches this phenomenon of late capitalist consumer society and its destructive consequences through various artistic practices - as reproduction, as commentary, as intervention.
