The work "I wanna carry you all on my back" explores and awakens spaces of life in an unusual perspective. Swimming, sailing like a creature, like a spider across the forest ground. In the side-specific performance, Wintermantel takes us on a journey through the forest and through special habitats where we encounter strategies and resistances. The universal language of birds, dialogues and conversations guide us through the irrational movement of the story. They tell of situations like being with drivers on a hunt or talking on the street with a stranger. Questions that may arise at a moment in the future, between the political and personal attitudes of the travellers. What is the order of the world?
The work is charged with meanings that poetically address the reciprocal relationships between humans and other living beings; it is about destroyed places and threatened forms of life. How do we want people to pay attention to and preserve the beauty of our area? First, we see the world through the eyes of a living being. And then maybe with our own eyes.
The installation consists of a large foil hanging in the room, showing strong images of the forest. The swift movements through the performer's camera immediately draw you into the spirit of the woods. The small space is filled with the colorful light of our environment. Through this immersive experience, one floats between the breath of the performer, the trees, animals, their lives and the end of live.
They are pillows made from recycled all-purpose blankets. 60% cotton and 40% synthetic. A mixture like our soil, soft like turf. We use these all-purpose blankets to protect our things that are important to us.
